At London Colney Youth Football Club we believe in Fair Play

Our Philosophy for grassroots football is that football is for everyone and

can be played by everyone regardless of age, gender, religion, ethnic or social background and level of fitness.

Football is a school of life…

Fair play, team spirit and camaraderie are just a few of the many values advocated by the club through football.

Football must also be fun…

Having fun is the most important thing in football. Coaches teach the game, not victory at all costs. We do not stream players until the U12 category when games become competitive.

Let the kids be kids!

Grassroots football must be simple, exciting and rewarding for children.

All of this philosophy can be achieved when we all: Players, Parents, Spectators, Coaches, Managers and Officials play our part and have RESPECT for the beautiful game.

Positions of Play

At London Colney Youth we believe that to develop an all rounded confident player it is important that every player gets to experience all positions on the field of play. This then allows a player to have the skill, confidence and understanding of all positions of play.

For example a coach has allowed a player to develop in his favourite position then one day this player is asked to replace another player in a unfamiliar position. The player says to the coach “What do I do?? I don’t normally play there” and doesn’t want to go on to the field of play. What has happened here is the coach has allowed the players development to become limited by keeping the player in their comfort zone. That said Parents/Carers please explain to all Players that in order to build a successful team we need to take turns in different playing positions and grow a good understanding of the positions of play within the game.
